In accordance with OC LAFCO policy, no applicant for the regular or alternate  public member shall be an officer or employee of the county or any city or special district with territory in Orange County.

OC LAFCO is a state mandated agency that oversees all jurisdictional changes within Orange County, including the incorporation of new cities; annexations to cities and special districts; and consolidations, mergers, and dissolutions of public agencies.  The purpose of OC LAFCO is to encourage the orderly formation of local government agencies, to discourage urban sprawl, and to preserve agricultural and open space land.

OC LAFCO meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in Conference Room 07 at the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).  The alternate public member is expected to attend all meetings.

At the July 12, 2017 regular OC LAFCO meeting, the Commission will select and appoint the alternate public member.  The successful candidate will assume office on August 9, 2017.

The deadline to submit a cover letter and application is 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017. The OC LAFCO office is located at 2677 North Main Street, Suite 1050, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
