La Palma Employee, La Palma Christian Center, and Local Businesses Offer a Helping Hand

“A small town helps out their own.”  A story line that we do not hear nearly enough, but one that La Palma is glad to claim.  An elderly La Palman was having trouble keeping up their home, which was noticed by City officials.  When City of La Palma Code Enforcement Officer Marion Cubero, discovered that the resident had limited resources to correct the situation, she knew she had to find a way to help.

Cubero contacted the La Palma Christian Center which happened to be looking for a community service project.  The Center was glad to step in to assist.  The group was able to secure donated paint and supplies from Vista Paint and Home Depot in Fullerton to complete the project.  With paint brushes in hand, the La Palma Christian Center volunteers and Cubero came together on Sunday, January 29th to paint the home. The homeowner was incredibly grateful and touched that the community made such an effort to help one of their own. The members of the La Palma Christian Center plan to continue their efforts in assisting community members who may need help sprucing up their properties on a quarterly basis.

Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines Community as “a group of people with common characteristic or interests living together within a larger society.”  A community where local government, residents and businesses coming together to support one another and create goodwill is certainly a special place.  La Palma is happy to be able to be such a special place.
